December for me was a bit disjointed with the launch of The Velocity Report partway through the month. For me, it’s great to start the year with my Velocity Report portfolio in place. Of the seven stocks I sold from the old Monthly Dividend Multiplier portfolio, six had gains, so I waited until January 2 to sell them. That same day, I used the Portfolio Rebalance Tool to set my positions for the stocks in the current portfolio.
The Velocity Report strategy involves owning dividend-paying stocks with solid growth prospects. I want to avoid turnaround situations, which often don’t come to pass.
In this, the January issue of the Velocity Report, I have provided a brief description of each company in the portfolio. I know that investors often buy a stock without knowing much about the company it represents.
Earnings season for the 2025 fourth quarter and full year starts for us on January 20, with Bank OZK (OZK) releasing its results. About a third of the portfolio will release earnings before I have to put together the February newsletter.
Actual earnings results, and what management teams say about their companies’ prospects, drive my investment decisions. However, I will not be patient if a share price does not match my expectations.
If you are new to The Velocity Report, I hope you have had a chance to check out the Portfolio Rebalance Tool. We usually use the tool to rebalance to the recommended position weights at the end of each quarter. I may also recommend rebalancing individual stocks if they get far out of line during the quarter.
We have had the tool available for at least five years. My anecdotal observation is that the rebalancing can add about 1% of total return each quarter. Four percent a year from rebalancing and about four percent from the average dividend yield gives us a nice jump start on earning an attractive overall return for the year.
I love to answer questions from subscribers. Each month, I record a Mailbag Video, answering questions you submit. Make sure to submit yours. We also have a live webinar each month where you can pick my brain.

Our next live webinar will be on January 28th at 4:30 p.m. You should expect to receive a reminder email that morning.
Portfolio Overview
To start the new year, I want to list the portfolio stocks, each with a short description of its business. I will get back to the individual stock write-ups next month. I used the Grok AI to help with the descriptions, which are listed alphabetically by stock symbol.

We added Blue Owl shortly after its IPO. I don’t normally go after IPO related stocks but I’d been tracking Blue Owl’s parent organization, then called Owl Rock Capital Corp., in my Dividend Hunter newsletter. What continues to excite me about the company are the growth oriented approach and firm’s commitment to dividend growth. OWL’s first dividend was $0.04 per share. It has grown its dividend every year since then and as of this writing pays $0.225.
Bank OZK (OZK) is a regional bank offering retail and commercial banking services across multiple U.S. states.
