The big news so far this month was the announcement from portfolio holding Macquarie Infrastructure (NYSE: MIC) that the company will be 50% of International-Matex Tank Terminals, turning Macqarie into the 100% owner of the infrastructure asset. The MIC share price is now 15% above our original entry, and it remains a hold, but if you don’t already own shares, we do not recommending buying at the current price of about $70.
The MIC price pop is a good example of the bonus gains that can happen with the types of stocks recommended in The Dividend Hunter. Portfolio recommendations are first screened for the ongoing stability of the current dividend rate. However, all have the potential to make moves to allow significant increases in future dividends.
I am in the midst of deep research into several stocks that may make the cut for the August newsletter. Even with the market setting records, there are some very interest prospects in the nooks and corners of the dividend paying world. Also, earnings season kicks off in earnest next week, so I will be very busy going over earnings release notes and listening in to conference calls. If anything material develops that affects our holdings I’ll be sure to let you know.
