Update for Monday, July 12, 1999:

I have to make this update short as I have a meeting to get to in a few minutes. But what can I say? The portfolio looks good and is consistently outperforming the markets.

Lycos was down 4 points today, probably only a minor sell-off after a huge jump last week. However, Lycos may see some activity tomorrow as they announced after the bell that they will be introducing a new auction service to be integrated into the Tripod community pages. It appears that Lycos' auction site will feature individuals selling and buying from each other, much like the format of eBay. I would expect Lycos to see a nice pop tomorrow on the news as Wall Street seems to love auctions so traders will probably bid the stock higher!

Dell was up close to a point today back to the mid 40s level, where Dell should at least be. It appears that, after a months on the sidelines, Dell's stock has come back into favor and we may see a nice summer rally for Dell that will hopefully bring the stock back to the 50s.

MCI WorldCom continues to perform wonderfully as they position themselves perfectly in the Internet. MCI WorldCom added 1 5/16 to 90 3/4 today on no major news.

I am looking to use our current cash position to pick up some shares of @Home (ATHM) in the coming weeks. The stock appears as though it will test some support in the low 40s. I do not believe it will break below this support so I will probably add shares of @Home to the portfolio right around 41 or so. @Home is perfectly positioned in the cable modem service area, one of the fastest growing markets out there. Some are questioning who will win between cable modems and DSL. My answer: they can both prosper! But @Home has been aggressively adding their services to new areas all around the country and I see this continuing for some time.

I will keep everyone updated on the @Home situation. My view on the overall market is that we will probably see little action until we get the CPI and PPI reports mid-week, which will tell us where inflation stands. Traders are ready to continue this rally, we may just need to wait a little. Hang in there, I see 12,000 before year's end. To all, a profitable week!

By the way, portfolio figures below were not updated today. I will update them tomorrow.
